Application in Lithium-ion Batteries

New energy positive and negative electrode materials refer to materials used for energy storage and release, mainly used in batteries, supercapacitors and other fields.

The cathode materials: Lithium cobaltate (LiCoO₂), Lithium manganate (LiMn2O4), lithium nickelate (H3LiNiO), Lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (LiNixCoyMn1-x-yO2),  Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) and so on.


The anode materials are: artificial graphite and carbon silicon materials.


The air jet mill has become a conventional choice in battery materials, crushing and grading equipment at the end of the process, the performance of the final product has a great impact, so the processing of electrode materials is an important link, crushed products are unqualified or crushed, the yield will be greatly reduced, the loss is very large, therefore, the crushing equipment can produce products to achieve narrow particle size, no crushing and large particles, the requirements of low fine powder rate are particularly important.


The airflow crushing equipment has the characteristics of large production capacity, high degree of automation, fine product particle size, narrow particle size distribution, high purity, large activity and good dispersion, which meets the preparation requirements of electrode materials; The preparation of many battery materials needs to be crushed and dried, there will be originally fine particles due to drying and agglomeration, or due to static electricity agglomeration, resulting in the size of raw materials is too large to be applied, air jet mill can also be applied to the depolymerization of battery materials, so it is widely used in this field.


The air jet mill has the following characteristics in the ultrafine crushing of battery materials:


  • • Without heating up, the material crushing is carried out in the state of gas expansion, and the temperature can be controlled at a constant 10 °C.
  • • No pollution, by high-speed and high-pressure clean air with animal materials to achieve crushing, no solid impurities involved, according to the characteristics of the material and application requirements in the contact between the equipment and the material to paste ceramics, and key components using ceramic materials, can strictly control the iron content.
  • • The wear is small, the material crushing process is completed by the material particles hitting each other, the whole system operates under negative pressure, and the material particles do not directly collide or rub with the development of the equipment.
  • • For materials with special properties, inert gas protection closed-circuit circulating air flow crushing system can be adopted.
  • • PLC intelligent terminal control is adopted to control the crushing process, which can ensure the stability of the finished particle size.

In general, the dedicated air jet mill for battery materials has shown its unique advantages in many practical applications, so it has a high position in the battery materials industry.
